Sherbrooke: Le Salésien Unveils Major New Expansion

By Frs. Richard Authier and Alain Léonard, SDBs

(Sherbrooke, Que. – October 21) – On Thursday, September 3, the inauguration of the new expansion of Le Salésien in Sherbrooke took place. Under the leadership of the school’s director Nathalie Marceau, a whole new section was added to the school. This is wonderful news, especially since close to 1,000 young students have been enrolled in the school as of the beginning of the academic year.

The construction came to the amount of about $15,000,000 dollars. Many donations were received. The Society of the Salesians of Canada also helped the school. The loan that the Sherbrooke community had previously given them was stretched out a little in time to help the school with its expenses.

Despite the challenges brought by the Quebec provincial government’s secularization of schools, Frs. Pierre Célestin Ona Zue and Alain Léonard are soldiering on using a Don Bosco approach.

As with all the Sherbrooke community’s ministries, please pray for all the good that this new building will enable.
