(East Boston, MA – July 16) – Every year, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America honor outstanding youths across the country through The Boys and Girls Clubs of American Youth of the Year Award (Youth of the Year). Each clubhouse across the country and on military bases elects their nominee for the Youth of the Year and submits their name to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. The criteria for a club member are that they must achieve good grades in school, be involved in the Club and community, demonstrate good conduct, and participate in a wide range of activities in and out of school. The candidates compete on the local, state, and national level.
On Sunday, June 29, the Salesian Boys and Girls Club (the Club) awarded Teagan Scarpa Youth of the Year. Teagan, like many of our teens, has grown up in the Club. He represented the Club at the Massachusetts Alliance of Boys and Girls Club of America’s Youth of the Year at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA. Teagan is a good role model for the younger club members. For the past four years, he has been a staff member at the club. This summer, he is a summer camp counselor at the Salesian Boys and Girls Club.
This past June, Teagan graduated from Boston Latin School, where he played varsity basketball. In the fall, he will enter the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, where he is pursuing a degree in finances.
That is about it for now! We are entering our third week of summer camp. Stay tuned for summer camp updates!
