Port Chester: Youths Experience Camp Veritas

Port Chester Camp Veritas

By Fr. Eddie Chincha, SDB, CYM, St. John Bosco Parish

(New Rochelle, N.Y. – September 2) – This past August, some of St. John Bosco Parish’s young parishioners attended Camp Veritas in upstate N.Y. When they came back, they were very grateful for the experience.

While at Camp Veritas, they played sports and games, as well as participated in daily prayers, Mass, and Eucharistic adoration. Some of them have attended this camp for a few years previously, and attendance from our parish has increased each summer.

Several participants witnessed how this camp helped them to strengthen their faith and to put it into practice. Upon their return, some of them signed up to serve as catechists, while others recommitted themselves to continue their current services, such as altar serving. Others said they would strive to help their parents at home more frequently. Still others said they would strive to be more consistent in attending to their prayer life.
