An Announcement About Salesian Family Snippets

Salesian Pilgrims SFSDs 2026

By Andrea Zimmerman, Salesian Family SDB Delegate

Dear Don Bosco Community,

We write to you today with a message rooted in the same spirit that has always guided our Salesian Family: communion.

After prayerful reflection and in the spirit of Family unity, we are announcing that Salesian Family Snippets will be discontinued. This is not an ending — it is a deepening. It is a recognition that when a family grows, the most powerful thing it can do is gather around a common table rather than sit at many separate ones.

Moving forward, all Salesian Family news will be integrated into the Salesian News, our province's primary communications publication and newsletter. Special featured articles highlighting the richness of our Salesian Family groups, their charisms, and their apostolic works will be published in Salesian News, which will give our stories the prominence, the readership, and the lasting presence they deserve.

This integration is more than a communications decision. It is a formation choice. We believe, as Don Bosco believed, that unity is not uniformity — it is the joyful recognition that we are stronger, holier, and more effective together than apart. To be in communion with one another in our formation, our works, and our spirituality is not a strategy. It is our vocation.

What This Means for You

Salesian Family News — All news, updates, and announcements from our Salesian Family groups will now appear within the Salesian News, reaching a broader community of readers across the province.
Featured Articles — Longer reflections, profiles, and stories from our Salesian Family will be featured in Salesian News and/or any other province publications, ensuring that the depth of our shared charism is told well and shared widely.
Rector Major’s Monthly Reflection — The Salesian Family will have a dedicated area within the Salesian News connecting all readers to the Rector Major’s monthly reflection.
Email List Transition — All email addresses currently subscribed to Salesian Family Snippets have been merged into the Salesian News distribution list. You do not need to take any action. You will continue to receive Salesian news, formation resources, and community updates — now as part of one unified voice.

Share Your Story with Us

Don Bosco’s dream did not end with him. It is alive today — in your oratories, your schools, your parishes, your homes, and your ministries. And we want the whole province to see it.

We warmly encourage all those in our local works to send us your stories and photographs showing how your site is keeping Don Bosco’s dream alive, in accordance with the Salesian News submission guidelines. Whether it is a quiet moment of accompaniment, a youth event that brought a neighborhood together, a service project carried out with joy, or students who discovered their vocation — these are the stories that build up the whole Salesian Family.

Please send your stories, photos, and updates to Andrea Zimmerman at andreazimm36@gmail.com and Julia St. Clair at communications@salesians.org. Every submission is a gift to the whole community.

Thank you for your faithfulness to Don Bosco’s mission, your commitment to the young people we serve, and your belonging to this extraordinary Family. We look forward to telling our story — together.

In the spirit of Don Bosco,

Andreas Signature
