Pray the Immaculate Conception Novena with Us

Immaculate Conception Novena 2023

By Ms. Julia St. Clair, Province Communications Director

(New Rochelle, NY – November 21) – The Immaculate Conception Novena will begin on Wednesday, November 29.

Please use this print resource in your communities. Each day leading up to the Immaculate Conception, you are invited to observe a passage from Scripture from the life of Mary and an excerpt from Fr. John Ayers that helps you reflect on the preventive system. All excerpts are taken from the section “Immaculate Preventive System” in the pamphlet Don Bosco Finds Mary in the Church by John Ayers, SDB.

Additionally, this year’s theme on social media is based on the Magnificat. From Wednesday, November 29, through Thursday, December 7, a story will go up on Facebook and Instagram with a line from the Magnificat and some prayers. The format is designed to invite young people, "the natives of the digital world," to join the Salesian Family in this devotion.

All local Salesian presences are encouraged to visit province social media, Salesians of Don Bosco, Canada and Eastern USA (Facebook) and @salesiansue (Instagram), daily and join in praying this novena as we honor the Immaculate Help of Christians with the same devotion of Don Bosco. Please also visit the province office of youth and young adult ministry’s social media pages, Salesian Youth Ministry (Facebook) and @sym_bosco (Instagram). The stories will be reposted and shared there, too.

May our Lady bless us and guide us as we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving in the U.S. and await Advent. Mary Help of Christians, pray for us!
