(Ramsey, NJ – August 31) – Don Bosco Prep recently held two week-long sessions of its B.E.S.T. program (Brothers Eagerly Serving Together). Led by the Youth Ministry team, B.E.S.T. is a program for students who spend the week on campus and engage in community service as they strengthen their faith and brotherhood ties.
Each session started with Mass with our Salesian community and breakfast on the front porch of St. John's Hall before the Ironmen got to work. Service projects consisted of improvement projects at Don Bosco Prep; the Marian Shrine in Stony Point, NY; and the Sisters of Life in Montebello, NY. The group also spent a day volunteering at Camp Echo Bay in New Rochelle, NY, where they got to visit with former director, Fr. Jim Heuser, SDB. Fun activities included an ice cream night, movie night, outdoor Rosary, outdoor concert, and improv session, along with swimming, barbeque, and games. Fr. Sasika Lokuhettige, SDB and Dalton Friend '14 offered tremendous leadership and guidance to our students throughout both weeks of the B.E.S.T. program.
We are thankful for the support this year of several alumni and Salesian Cooperators, who generously offered their time to our Salesian mission among the young!
