Dear Members of the Salesian Family,
October this year is a unique Salesian month—the Month of the Rosary and a Synod of Bishops with a Salesian theme, “Young People, Faith, and Vocational Discernment”.
Please consider using the below Rosary prayer service for vocations with simple meditations on the Joyful Mysteries. It can be used for communal recitations of the Rosary during this month, and also during Vocations Awareness Week, November 4-10, 2018 (at least in the US portion of our Province).
October is also World Mission Month, with Sunday, the 21st World Mission Sunday. Let us also pray for Church’s mission and for missionary vocations, and particularly, accompany the 36 Salesian priests, brothers, and sisters who were commissioned as missionaries from the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians at the end of September.
May the Lord continue to send us holy vocations to continue the mission that Holy Spirit entrusted to the Salesian Family through Mary’s intercession.
In Don Bosco,
Fr. Dominic Tran, SDB
PRAYING THE JOYFUL MYSTERIES FOR VOCATIONS
“Mary Immaculate, Help of Christians,
leads us to the fullness of our offering to the Lord
and gives us courage for the service of our brethren”
(Salesian Constitution 92)
Recommended for the Month of the Rosary,
uniting ourselves with the Synod of Bishops on
Young People, the Faith, and Vocational Discernment,
and during Vocations Awareness Week, November 4-10, 2018
The First Mystery – The Annunciation
“Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you”
May all Christians grow in our awareness of God’s gracious love for us and God’s loving presence in our lives.
The Second Mystery – The Visitation
“Holy is God’s Name. He has mercy. He remembers.”
May priests and consecrated men and women continue to be the signs and instruments of God’s presence, holiness, and love.
The Third Mystery – Jesus’ Birth
“You will call him Emmanuel, God-with-us”
May Christian families be ever clearer the dwelling places of God where parents and children grow in wisdom and grace, and where others may encounter God.
The Fourth Mystery – The Presentation
“Lord, now you let your servant go in peace,
my own eyes have seen your salvation”
Simeon and Anna dedicated their entire lives to God.
May the Lord send more vocations to the Salesian Family,
and may we follow the examples of Simeon and Anna
in living the spirit of Don Bosco,
“Give me souls, take away the rest.”
The Fifth Mystery – Joseph and Mary find Jesus in the Temple
“Do you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?”
For adults:
May Mary and Joseph
continue to pray for and support young people
to discover and to fulfill the holy purpose
that God has for each of them,
so that they may participate in God’s loving plan of salvation
for all creation.
For young people:
May Mary and Joseph
continue to pray for and support us
to discover and to fulfill the holy purpose
that God has for each of us,
so that we may participate in God’s loving plan of salvation
for all creation.
