Don Bosco Tech Bro. Bruno

(Paterson, N.J., May 14) – Bro. Bruno Busatto provided this photo, taken during his recent visit to the site of the former Don Bosco Technical High School.  The school included three buildings (two attached) at 202 Union Avenue in Paterson.  Opened in 1948, the school was housed in what used to be one of the city’s famous silk mills.  Bro. Bruno ran the print shop.  The school closed in 2002 and was eventually sold to the Paterson Public Schools, which used the buildings to open the Don Bosco Technology Academy, a charter school honoring the 53-year name of the site.  But that has come to an end with the demolition to make way for the Union Avenue Middle School, a four-story building of 161,000 square feet that will serve 1,000 students.  The new school’s opening is planned for September 2021.
