(Marrero, LA – January 21) – The Feast of St. John Bosco is next Monday, January 31. We know that Our Founder died on January 31, 1888. We thank God on this day for the blessings of our Salesian Charism and the gift that Don Bosco is to the world.
Here at Archbishop Shaw, we are very excited about our upcoming celebrations of Don Bosco. On Monday, January 31, Shaw Theatre productions will present The Time Machine—To See the Real Don Bosco. The play, which will be performed by my 12th grade religion class, is a drama about the life of Don Bosco. Students have been preparing diligently. The showtimes are around 2:00 pm and 2:40 pm CST.
Salesian Jeopardy will also take place during those time. Representatives from all households will square off in the cafeteria. Together, we shall see who knows the most about Mama Margaret, Don Bosco, the Salesians!
On Tuesday February 1, we will celebrate the biggest School Mass of the year. At 9:30 am CST, both the Academy of Our Lady High School (AOL) and Archbishop Shaw High School will gather together for the Solemn Mass of Don Bosco in the Shaw gymnasium. Parents and alumni are welcome! The presider and homilist is Archbishop Gregory Aymond, the bishop of New Orleans. After Mass, all 11th and 12th graders of both schools will eat in the gym together, while all eight, ninth, and 10th graders will have lunch at AOL with the girls. There will also be great activities and contests to follow.
