Hernando: Great to Be Back with Salesian Family

Hernando Great to Be Back With Salesian Family

By Melody Candiloro, Salesian Cooperator

(Hernando, Fla. – September 17) – On Tuesday, September 15, the St. Dominic Savio Salesian Cooperator Center in Hernando, Fla., resumed its monthly meetings. Fourteen Salesian Cooperators, volunteers, and guests attended.

As always, we began our meeting by praying the Rosary. Formation included our group's continued study and discussion of the book Forty Dreams of St. John Bosco, along with our founder’s ninth dream, “The Partridge and the Quail,” from the Biographical Memoirs. Our Center's coordinator, Pat Sobel, presented these formation materials to us.

This summer, many of us were fortunate to spend much-needed time with family members whom we haven't seen in a while. The girls from Don Bosco Children's Home had a great summer vacation. They went to water parks, theme parks, etc., and attended a “prayer in action” retreat at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Ocala, Fla., where they also did service work.

On Saturday, September 12, the girls, along with others, volunteered at a car-washing fundraiser for the youth group at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness, Fla. They are now attending Citrus High School. The school has an extensive sports program, which the girls enjoy tremendously.

Future opportunities for the girls, such as World Youth Day, August 3, 2027, were also discussed.

As always, the Cooperators at our Center will continue to promote foster care in the Salesian spirit of Don Bosco.

After the meeting, all enjoyed our social gathering with much food prepared by Pat, her husband Chuck, and the Cooperators. It was great to be back with our Salesian Family!
