Florida: KCMT Anniversary Field Day Celebration

KCMT Anniversary

(Tampa, FL – November 18) – On the afternoon of Sunday, November 10, drums could be heard moving across campus at Mary Help of Christians Center in Tampa. Members of the Korean community of Mary Help, in celebration of the anniversary of the Korean Catholic Mission of Tampa (KCMT), began festivities with a procession toward the gymnasium. The drummers, who varied in ages and used many types of Korean drums (hourglass, barrel, and frame drums) led the procession.

About 115 Korean Catholics were in attendance at the anniversary celebration, as well as Fr. John Bosco Lee, SDB, the new Korean priest at Mary Help of Christians, and Fr. Benjamin Kim, SDB (transferred to a new assignment in New York).

The atmosphere at the celebration was joyful, and it afforded everyone time to play together, share food and get to know one another more closely. Field day activities and games included curling, bean bag toss, dodgeball, “shoe” golf, relays, and more.
