(East Boston, MA – September 18) – The days are getting shorter, and the nights are getting longer. For those of us who reside in cooler weather, autumn is here. Soon, the trees will be bright with red, orange, yellow, and tan colors. The pumpkins are already decorated for Halloween with scary or humorous faces on display. The Indian corn hangs on the front doors of the houses, while main streets and storefronts are decked out in autumn attire.
All the schools in the Boston Metro area have now officially opened; some have been in session for two or three weeks. The Salesian Boys and Girls Club's first session of the afterschool program opened on Monday, September 9. The Club year started off well, with over 120 members. Over the course of the week, our numbers grew to 150. Most returning members have been coming to the afterschool program since we were a remote learning site after the pandemic. While it is always good to see the smiling old faces, it is equally good to see some new faces.
One exciting note: Mayor Wu visited the club in August to dedicate the new Salesian Boys and Girls Club/Boston Scores soccer fields and playground. With our new field and renovated clubhouse, we are all set for an exciting, fun-filled year!
Stay tuned for more updates on what is happening in beautiful East Boston!
