CANADA: SALESIANS BREAK GROUND FOR NEW HOME IN EDMONTON

            (Edmonton, Alta. – June 1)  – The Salesian community in Edmonton will finally be able to live under one roof.  For the past decade, they have been living in several condominiums and parish rectories.  The province reshaping plan of 2014 called for the community to come together in one house.  Since then, the local community took charge of the project, researching various options.  They presented their preferred option to the provincial council in March, along with a plan to raise the funds on their own.  The plan was approved by the provincial council, and the construction documents were signed on May 24.  Construction started on May 31.  Funding for the project will be provided over the next few years through income from the various parishes served by the Salesians and a loan from the archdiocese of Edmonton.  The Salesian Society of Canada contributed $100,000 toward the down payment.
