7th Sunday of the Word of God

7th Sunday of the Word of God

By Provincial Fr. Dominic Tran, SDB

(New Rochelle, NY – January 21) – When Pope Francis established the annual Sunday of the Word of God, he encouraged the followers of Christ “to set aside moments to reflect on the great importance of the Word of God for everyday living.” (Apostolic Letter “Aperuit Illis” – Instituting the Sunday of the Word of God, 2019, #2).

The theme of this year’s Sunday of the Word of God (January 25, 2026) is “the Word of Christ dwells among you” (Colossians 3:16). This theme clearly draws us again to that invitation from the Vicar of Christ to reflect on Sacred Scripture.

For us Salesians, one of the foundations of our spirituality is the awareness and conviction that God is with us.

May daily listening to the Word of God help us to know that Christ dwells among us, and to recognize God’s presence in our lives, as well as in the lives of our brothers and sisters. Then, we might have the courage and trust to “do whatever he tells us” (Strenna 2026).
