Fr. Ryan Muldoon, a member of Don Bosco Prep’s class of 2009, celebrated Mass with the Don Bosco Prep community on Tuesday, December 8 for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. In his homily, Fr. Ryan spoke about Bartholomew Garelli, the orphan who was the first student of Don Bosco. In his homily, Fr. Ryan explained to the student body how Bartholomew was chosen by Don Bosco to be prepared for life and prepared to live his faith, just as God chose and prepared Mary to be the Mother of God. In a similar way, Fr. Ryan said, “God has chosen each one of the students to be sons of God and sons of St. John Bosco, and that throughout our unique lives, we will each discover what God is preparing for us.”
Fr. Ryan, who was ordained into the Archdiocese of New York in 2019 and is serving at St. Mary’s Church in Washingtonville, NY, showed the students the copy of his booklet of St. John Bosco that he studied at Don Bosco as a freshman and still keeps with him and refers to today. As Fr. Ryan reminded the boys, “Like Mary, we have been chosen and prepared.”
