(Port Chester, NY – April 30) – On Saturday, April 26, St. John Bosco Parish had its second round of Confirmation retreats. Our Confirmation retreats are new this year and have served as beautiful discernment testimonies of what our young people needed to strengthen their faith.
We started the retreat with breakfast, then icebreakers, and some other hands-on activities that helped them reflect on the sacrament of Confirmation. We also had two wonderful witness talks given by members of our high school youth group. During their talks, these students encouraged the Confirmation students to live their faith as young Catholics. It was very moving to see middle school kids, who, because they could relate to the experiences of the high school leaders, come up to them with follow-up questions and expressions of gratitude. We also had time for confessions , adoration and Mass.
The parents of these kids were impressed that the kids turned in their cell phone in for the whole day so that they could disconnect from distractions and focus on the retreat.
We are grateful for the cooperation of the whole Salesian Family: FMAs, Cooperators, catechists and young leaders in an endeavor that will definitely strengthen the Salesian Youth Movement.
