Stony Point: Shrine Celebrates Annual Rise Up! Festival

Stony Point: Rise Up 2025

By Mrs. Jennifer Passerino, Salesian Family

(Stony Point, NY – August 20) – On Saturday, August 9, the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians (the Shrine) held its annual Rise Up! Festival. Part of the day’s activities were a kickball game between the Thiells Fire and Police Departments, a magic show, and games.

Attendees joined together at the beautiful outdoor chapel to praise and worship through song, Rosary, and confession, as well as adoration led by Deacon Tom Junis, SDB. Mass was celebrated by the Archdiocese of New York Auxiliary Bishop John S. Bonnici and concelebrated by the Shrine's director, Fr. Manny Gallo, SDB, along with members of the Salesian community.

The Knights of Columbus Color Guard from Council 581 accompanied the procession. Fr. Manny is Chaplain of the Council 581, as well as the Thiells Fire Department. It was a beautiful day!
