Sherbrooke: A Successful First Edition of Bosco Camp 2025

Sherbrooke: First Edition of Bosco Camp

By Fr. Pierre Célestin Ona Zue, SDB

(Sherbrooke, QC – September 3) – From Monday, August 4, to Friday, August 8, the very first edition of Bosco Camp was held at Camp Savio. This initiative was led by the Salesians of Sherbrooke, with the generous support of the Salesian Cooperators.

The camp welcomed 42 young people from families with limited resources, the majority of whom were immigrant families. For five days, they enjoyed a unique experience filled with fraternity, joy, and hope.

Thanks to the commitment of Fr. Pierre Célestin and Véronique, who passionately coordinated this project, the young people were able to enjoy a rich and varied program. This included inspiring teachings, moments of relaxation, creativity workshops, group games, and festive dances.

Throughout their time at camp, the campers were accompanied by great figures of holiness, who served as role models. These included Sts. John Bosco, Dominic Savio, and Francis of Assisi, and soon-to-be St. Carlo Acutis. These witnesses of faith helped the participants discover that it is possible to embody holiness in the simplicity of every-day life.

The young people left joyful and filled with gratitude. They were happy to have experienced this wonderful, fraternal adventure.

A huge thank you to the benefactors, volunteers, and youth leaders who made this first edition of Bosco Camp possible. Thanks to them, Bosco Camp planted a seed of hope that the Sherbrooke community hopes will bear much fruit in the years to come.
