Salesian Presence at Exchange

Salesian Presence at Exchange

By Mrs. Amy Stockinger, Program Coordinator, Province Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry

(New Rochelle, NY – February 15) – This year, the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM) held its annual Exchange gathering from Monday, February 5, through Wednesday, February 7, in Dallas, TX. Ms. Gina Robles (of the SUO province) and I were honored to represent the Salesian Family.

This gathering, in addition to having been the federation’s annual membership meeting, served as an opportunity to gather diocesan and organizational directors of youth ministry and other ministry leaders. The name “Exchange” comes from the idea that there is a giving and receiving of information among the participants, who share ministry updates and best practices with each other. Many topics were covered in the general and breakout sessions, including mental health, spiritual health, engagement, and action planning.

It was a beautiful experience to meet a Salesian Cooperator, originally from St. Petersburg, and to talk to a director from Michigan, who knew one of our men in formation. It is always wonderful to see how loved the Salesians are in the Catholic Church and to share our charism with those who have not yet heard of us.
