(New Rochelle, NY — June 14, 2021) — On Saturday evening, June 12, Salesian High School bade farewell to Frs. John Serio and Bill Ferruzzi. About 60 alumni, parents, current students and staff, and parishioners of Holy Name Parish, besides confreres of the provincial house community, gathered for Mass in the school chapel and a buffet supper in the Weigand Center (the new gym).

Fr. John presided at Mass and preached. Both Fr. John and Fr. Bill voiced their gratitude for their many years of service at Salesian. Each has been assigned three times to the school over the last 40 years, most recently as president in Fr. John’s case and as director in Fr. Bill’s case.

Steve Sallustio, Kevin Heppes, and Joe Lanza expressed appreciation to the two confreres on behalf of the school community, presenting each with a custom-designed Don Bosco poster. The Class of 2020 presented Fr. John with a signed poster to thank him for his support during their final, pandemic-tried months at the school.
