Province Calendars

Dear Confreres,

Our hearts are filled with joy as we celebrate the Resurrection! The liturgy of the Church guides us through this Easter season, inspiring us to rejoice in the Lord and to give credible testimony to the risen Christ in our lives.

I am happy to share with you the province calendar for the second half of 2022 and all of 2023. I would like to highlight some important events over the next year and a half. These events will strengthen the unity and fraternity of our province.

The Provincial Chapter will take place from July 10-15. Province Day will be at the end of the chapter, on Friday, July 15.

Our Fall Leadership Meeting will be held from October 13-14. The Jubilees will be celebrated on Saturday, October 15.

The Rector Major will visit the SUO province from November 16-21. He will be in the SUE province from November 21-25. Later this year, you will receive an invitation to the 75th Anniversary Gala of the Salesian Missions on Tuesday, November 22. We will be blessed to have Fr. Ángel with us for Thanksgiving Day. A banquet for all SDBs will be held in the afternoon in Ramsey.

Fr. Hugo Orozco, regional for Interamerica, will be in the SUE province for the consultation for a new provincial, from February 5-12, 2023. SDBs are expected to be in person for the consultation at one of the following sites. Please set aside the dates now. We will not have the spring leadership meeting so the confreres will be freer to meet with Fr. Hugo during the consultation process.

We will gather as a Salesian Family from across the province for a Family Festival on May 25-28 in Stony Point. We would like to have every Salesian work and group in the Salesian Family represented at this special event.

World Youth Day Lisbon will be held from August 1-6. Plans are being finalized to offer young adults an additional experience of walking part of El Camino or visiting Lisieux, Annecy, and Turin.

Fr. Hugo will return to the province in September 2023 and join us for the Fall Leadership Meeting, September 28-29 and the celebration of Jubilees on Sunday, September 30.

You can see that we will have several unique opportunities to experience belonging to the Congregation, the region, the province, and the Salesian Family. You are receiving the calendar now, so every local SDB community and work can plan to participate in these opportunities.

We continue the preparations for the Provincial Chapter. Please remember to send in your ballots for the delegates-at-large for the Provincial Chapter. You may scan them and email them to me if that is more convenient for you.

May we enjoy the company of the risen Christ, like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, allowing our encounter with Him to set us on fire with faith and love.
