(Port Chester, NY – May 6) – St. John Bosco Parish’s altar servers were happy to join the Province Day celebration this past weekend.

Eleven altar servers woke up early and travelled to Stony Point with their families to serve at the Province Day Mass.

St. John Bosco Parish has been making great strides in diligently recruiting new altar servers and in keeping its current ones. We meet once a month and offer training targeted to their age and experience. They truly love to serve, and they have made many new friendships among the servers.

We have 80 registered altar servers, and we are looking to get at least another 20 more servers.

St. John Bosco Parish also recently held its Confirmation retreat for 136 young people, who are preparing to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. We had a wonderful team of 25 people, which included adult catechists and young volunteers who attended the Valdocco Retreat and NCYC; by serving on this retreat, they were able to give back to the parish.

Among the many activities taking place during the retreat were the following: games, two wonderful witness talks by some of our young people, adoration, confessions, and Mass. All the Salesian priests of the community were involved in hearing confessions. Salesian Cooperators showed up to help lead small group discussions, and our Salesian Sisters also helped us to animate the Holy Hour.

Please pray for our confirmandi, who will receive the sacrament of confirmation on Wednesday, May 13.
