Port Chester: Youths Make the Sacrament of Confirmation

Port Chester May 2026 Confirmations

By Fr. Eddie Chincha, SDB, CYM, St. John Bosco Parish

(Port Chester, NY – May 27) – Congratulations to St. John Bosco Parish’s most recent confirmati!

The parish celebrated two out of three scheduled Confirmation Masses earlier this month. Bishop Manny Cruz celebrated these Masses for about a hundred kids.

The church was packed with people who were thrilled to celebrate the liturgies alongside SDBs, FMAs, Salesian Cooperators, and volunteers. The parish leaders were very happy to see the fruits of a lot of work in the religious education program.

St. John Bosco's Confirmation students had excellent catechists and a program that directed them to offer community service and to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation more often. Many of the parish's adult members were impressed by witnessing so many of these young people going to confession at least once every two months.

Everyone is grateful to Mrs. Irma Austin, St. John Bosco Parish’s coordinator of religious education, who is retiring this year. They are very grateful to her for her work and care for the young people here, as well as for all the catechists. They wish her the best as she retires from her role as coordinator to enjoy spending more time with her family and personal projects.
