On Wednesday, December 12, the Don Bosco Prep community in Ramsey, N.J., celebrated Mass in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe. In 1531, our Lady appeared to St. Juan Diego on the outskirts of Mexico City.

Fr. Miguel Suarez, SDB, pastor at the Salesian parish of Our Lady of the Valley Church in Orange, N.J., and a native of Mexico City, was the guest celebrant for the sacred liturgy.

“As an infant, Fr. Miguel was baptized at the basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe,” said Fr. James Heuser, SDB, DBP’s director and president. “So it was a privilege to have him come and celebrate with us. He connected faith in God and love for Mary in a strong way with the daily life of our students.”

Fr. Heuser concelebrated with Fr. Suarez, as did Fr. Louis Konopelski, Fr. John Blanco, Fr. Paul Chu, and Fr. James Mulloy of DBP’s Salesian community and staff.

During Mass, Fr. Miguel commissioned ten students as Eucharistic ministers for service in the DBP community.
