NEW JERSEY: DON BOSCO PREP CREATES NEW PRESIDENT POSITION

by Jennifer Passerino

(Ramsey, N.J. – February 6) – Following the celebration of the feast of Don Bosco during Catholic Schools Week, Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey announced the appointment of Robert Fazio as its first lay president.

In a letter to the school community, Fr. Timothy Zak, Salesian provincial, and James Fortescue, chairman of the board of trustees, jointly announced that the role of director/president would be “separated into two leadership positions: that of a Salesian director and that of a lay president,” effective July 1, 2019.

Fr. James Heuser, who has served as director/president since 2010, will remain at Don Bosco Prep as Salesian director, “with primary responsibility for maintaining and fostering the charism of St. John Bosco in every aspect of the educational and evangelizing environment of the school community.”

Mr. Fazio, the parent of a 2007 Don Bosco Prep alumnus and currently the school’s principal, will take up the role of president, “with primary responsibility for the school’s educational direction, financial soundness, and strategic planning.”
