Chicago: Celebrating Our Lady Help of Christians

Help of Christians Celebration

By Gerardo Faz

(Chicago, IL – May 21) – On Sunday, May 19, St. John Bosco Parish in Chicago celebrated Mary Help of Christians with a beautiful procession after Mass in the streets of the neighborhood around the church, praying the Rosary. The children of the youth center, between six and 15 years old, and the Salesian Cooperators invited the whole community for this walk in honor of Mary.

In the end, Fr. Tom Provenzano and Fr. Marcos Riveros were in charge of crowning the Virgin Mary in the gymnasium. Then a snack of delicious fruit and parochial fraternity followed.

The event was organized by Celula de Maria Auxiliadora, a group who identify themselves with and have devotion to a saint, in this case to Mary Help of Christians. The group made a novena leading up to the feast, praying the Rosary together daily.
