CANADA: LE SALÉSIEN ON MISSION IN MEXICO

Sherbrooke Group in Mexico

by Fr. Alain Leonard, SDB

(Sherbrooke, Que. – February 28) – The Jeunes Missionnaires du Salésien (Young Missionaries of Salesian) arrived in Mexico City on February 27 for a mission trip that will last until March 9. This group from Level 4 (15-16 years old) from Le Salésien, the Salesian high school in Sherbooke, will work as volunteers in the Proyecto Chavos de Don Bosco (Boys of Don Bosco Project), a Salesian boarding school for the street kids aged 12-17.

On arrival they received a doubly warm greeting, first from the warm sunshine (50º C warmer than what they’d left in Quebec), and then from the warm friendship of their hosts. The welcome included an American meal: KFC. The house receives donations from everywhere!

Then the young people had fun in the playground sharing the national sport of Latinos, soccer, which was a welcome release of energy after a very long plane flight.

But on Thursday morning the 28th, the young students went right to work after morning prayer.
