Sts. Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati to Be Canonized This Sunday

Message of the Provincial | September 4, 2025

By Provincial Fr. Dominic Tran, SDB

(New Rochelle, NY – September 4) – The canonization of the young Sts. Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati on Sunday, September 7, reminds us of the lesson Don Bosco learned when he met St. Dominic Savio.

Don Bosco reflected, “I was not a little astonished to consider the achievements which divine grace had already worked in so young a boy” (St. John Bosco, St. Dominic Savio, translated by Paul Aronica, SDB, Don Bosco Publications, New Rochelle, NY, p. 49).

We thank God for calling us, the Salesian Family, to journey with young people on the way of holiness.

May Sts. Carlo and Pier Giorgio and all holy young people “obtain for us from the Lord the grace to be faithful to the special covenant that the Lord has made with us, and help us so that, guided by Mary Help of Christians, we may follow with joy, together with the young, the path that leads to love. [May they] help us so that, guided by Mary Help of Christians, we may follow with joy, together with the young, the path that leads to love. Amen.” (adapted from “Charter of the Charismatic Identity of the Salesian Family of Don Bosco”).
