Stony Point: Marian Shrine Holds Rise Up! Festival

Stony Point Rise Up! 2024

By Mrs. Jennifer Passerino, Salesian Family

(Ramsey, NJ – August 28) – The Marian Shrine held its Rise Up! Festival on Saturday, August 17, an event of faith and fun for its community. The day included games and food earlier in the day, and an afternoon of faith through the celebration of the Rosary, Mass, and adoration at the beautiful outdoor altar.

Bishop Edmund Whalen from the Archdiocese of New York celebrated Mass. Fr. Manny Gallo, SDB, who was installed as the Shrine’s new director in July, and members of the Marian Shrine Salesian community concelebrated the Mass. During his homily, Bishop Whalen thanked the members of the Salesian community for their service to the young and called those in attendance to similar service. “You are being called to service like these Salesian men here on this altar, and we pray that our young people will be like Mary and say yes to God’s call.”

A glorious and moving nighttime adoration was led by Fr. Pat Angelucci, SDB, for several hundred attendees. There was also beautiful music throughout the day. The evening ended with a spectacular display of fireworks. It was a great day for the Marian Shrine community!
