Stony Point: Focus on Mary Help and Don Bosco

Mary Help of Christian Chapel at the Marian Shrine

By Fr. Steve Shafran, SDB

(Stony Point, NY – April 3) – A priority of the Shrine is to promote devotion to Mary Help of Christians and showcase our spirituality and Salesian charism highlighting Don Bosco. To that end, two special devotional prayer areas have been designed on each side of the sanctuary.

The new stone wall with brown accents becomes the perfect background for the marble statues that have graced the Shrine from the first Chapel pavilion built for worship. New marble pedestals have been constructed, and spotlights with dimmers have been installed. Additionally, kneelers and votive stands with real candles will create a beautiful space for prayer.

The enhancements to our beautiful Chapel of Mary Help of Christians will highlight the importance of our father, St. John Bosco, and the Blessed Mother, who he considered the foundress of his work with youth and the Salesian Family.
