THE SORROWFUL MYSTERIES FOR VOCATIONS

The Sorrowful Mysteries

For members of the Church, and for particular vocations

1. The Agony in the Garden

“Watch and pray that you may not undergo the test.” (Matthew 26:41)

For an increase of vocations to contemplative life and growth in the spirit of prayer in all believers

2. The Scourging at the Pillar

“Then they spat in his face and struck him, while some slapped him” (Matthew 26:67)

For an increase of vocations to communities that minister to people who suffer and those who share these ministries

3. The Crowning with Thorns

“Weaving a crown of thorns, the soldiers placed it on him […] and kept striking his head with a reed and spitting upon him.” (Mark 15:17-19)

For an increase of vocations to communities that minister to people who are marginalized and those who share these ministries

4. The Carrying of the Cross

“So they took Jesus, and carrying the cross himself he went out to what is called the Place of the Skull” (John 19:16-17)

For an increase of the awareness in all Christians that by their life and ministries, they share in Christ’s mission for the salvation of the world

5. The Crucifixion

“Amen, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:43)

For an increase of vocations to communities that minister to people who are sick and dying and those who share these ministries
