SLM Discernment Retreat Unites the Called

SLM April Discernment Weekend

(New Rochelle, NY — April 29) — The Salesian Lay Missioner (SLM) program hosted a virtual discernment retreat from Friday, April 22 through Sunday, April 24. The weekend gave candidates for the SLM program an opportunity to learn about both the Salesians and SLM program, as well as share their discernment journeys with one another. Sr. Theresa Lee, FMA (“Salesians & Don Bosco”); Fr. Steve DeMaio, SDB (“Discernment”); Br. Branden Gordon, SDB (“The Oratory Criteria”); and SLM Director Adam Rudin presented throughout the retreat.

Among the highlights of the weekend was a panel of SLM alumni (SLMA) that shared their stories from mission and offered advice, support, and prayers for those in discernment. Elaine Alexander (Bolivia, S. Sudan), Katie Church (Cambodia), Ann Steffen (Bolivia), and Nick Ynami (S. Sudan, Vietnam) served as panelists.

Please pray for those in attendance of the weekend: Adam Goetz (IA), Katherine Mendoza (CO), Aleesha Roessler (CO), and Anthony Scheip (FL) as well as all those considering long-term service. For additional information on the SLM program, please visit www.SalesianLayMissioners.org.
