SLM Orientation

By Adam Rudin, Director, Salesian Lay Missioners

The Salesian Lay Missioner (SLM) orientation concluded on Friday, October 16 with the commissioning of five new SLMs: Paul Chappell (Warwick, RI), Andy Lagunas (Cicero, IL), Chris Lee (Vero Beach, FL), Luke Morris (Springfield, VA), and Ann Steffen (Ames, IA).

The commissioning mass was celebrated by the provincial, Fr. Tim Zak, SDB, and assisted by former SLMs, Br. Dan Glass, SDB, and Fr. Paul Chu, SDB. The four newly commissioned SLMs finished two weeks of preparation to head out to their mission assignments. Having a virtual orientation is a first for the SLM program, but this year seems to be the “year of firsts.”

The newly commissioned SLMs will serve in Latin America (Chappell); Tampa, FL (Lagunas); Kokopo, Papua New Guinea (Lee and Morris); and Cochabamba, Bolivia (Steffen).
