Remembering Our Brother Salesians

Remembering our Brother Salesians

By Fr. Richard Alejunas, SDB, Province Treasurer

(New Rochelle, NY – September 18) – On Saturday, September 14, (Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross) a small group gathered at the Salesian Provincial Cemetery in Goshen, NY, at noon for the monthly commemoration of the deceased Salesians of Don Bosco.

The midday prayer/Rosary was celebrated by members of the Salesian Family represented by Ramsey, NJ (pre-novitiate); Stony Point, NY (Salesian Cooperators); and New Rochelle, NY (SUE Province Offices). Thank you to all who attended!

The cemetery visitor logbook notes the following visits: the family of Fr. Thomas Provenzano on Monday, September 2, and Chris Komondy for Fr. Diego Borgatello on Thursday, September 12.

Our next Salesian Family cemetery visit will take place on Saturday, October 26, at 12:00 noon. It will be sponsored by the Friends of the Holy Rosary, Port Chester, NY. In anticipation of November’s All Souls Day, an outdoor Mass for the Dead will be celebrated. All are welcome.

Goshen’s SUE Provincial Cemetery is the final resting place for 204 of our beloved deceased: four laymen, six SDB relatives, one cleric, 52 coadjutor brothers, 140 priests, and one bishop.
