The Preventive System: A Spirituality for Evangelizers and Educators

SYM Corner 09.30.21

By Fr. Lou Molinelli, SDB

St. John Bosco lived his educational system as a spirituality. For him, proclaiming the Good News was the starting point of education. Don Bosco brought the young into a personal relationship with God through the grace of the Sacraments, Love of Our Lady, and union with the Catholic Church. Young people need to know that they are loved by God and that God has a special plan for them in their lives.

Our Salesian Preventive System has this proclamation as its foundation. From here, a young person grows in knowledge, wisdom, and grace. The desire to learn becomes a driving force in the young that leads them to desire an even deeper relationship with God. Thus, the quest for learning becomes a spirituality for their lives.

For us as Salesians and Salesian collaborators, we, too, have been moved by the Good News. Somewhere in our history, God touched our lives with this message of hope. Our story continues to be lived in our work among the young. By this ministry, we grow in, learn, and move towards holiness. Our continuing education is rooted in the work of evangelization. Let your ministry in the Salesian Family be rooted in continual conversion.

Let the Good News of redemption and the love of God move you to continue day by day to grow in holiness. This is the best witness we can give the young!
