Port Chester Youths Embark on a Week of Retreats

Port Chester Youths Week of Retreats

By Fr. Eddie Chincha, SDB, CYM, St. John Bosco Parish

(Port Chester, NY – February 18) – This past weekend, St. John Bosco Parish sent a group of young people to the Valdocco Retreat in Stony Point, NY, to form its young leaders in the Salesian spirit.

Our parish is very happy to support our youth in this effort. Our new way forward is to encourage our freshman and sophomore students to be part of the Valdocco Retreat and our upperclassmen to assist at out-of-state events, such as NCYC.

One example of such an event is our upcoming trip to Florida. Six young men have volunteered to give up their winter break to fly to Tampa for a week of service. They will stay in the Mary Help of Christians Center while volunteering with the program entitled "Feeding Tampa Bay" and visiting the Don Bosco Home in Inverness.

This is the first time St. John Bosco Parish has done a trip like this, and we are very excited to be a part of it. We will join groups from Salesian High School and Don Bosco Prep, who have organized this week of service for the past three years.
