Port Chester: Youth Ministry on Fire to Live the Gospel

By Fr. Eddie Chincha, SDB, CYM, St. John Bosco Parish

(Port Chester, NY – March 19) – St. John Bosco Parish in Port Chester is taking another step in the growth of its youth ministry program. The parish’s high school oratory members, who usually meet on Mondays, came to visit its Friday night oratory for middle schoolers.

Their aim was to show younger parishioners that growth in the faith is something to be fostered throughout their whole lives. They also wanted to make sure that our younger kids know that they can be accompanied through their whole lives in our parish.

This is one of the ideas they came up with after attending the province-sponsored Valdocco Retreat last month. They are on fire to live the Gospel and share what they have received with others. Another beautiful aspect of this oratory is that it unites young leaders, SDBs, FMAs, and Salesian Cooperators in the same ministry.
