Port Chester: Young People Shine in Confirmation Retreat

Port Chester: Confirmation Retreat

By Fr. Eddie Chincha, SDB, CYM, St. John Bosco Parish

(Port Chester, NY – April 9) – The youth ministry team in Port Chester started a new Confirmation retreat experience for young people at St. John Bosco Parish. The theme of the retreat was “living out your faith as a young person.” On Saturday, April 5 (just two weeks before Easter), the parish’s high school students, who are currently in preparation to receive the sacrament of Confirmation, spent the day doing some hands-on activities. They also listened to some witness talks, attended adoration, and received the sacrament of Reconciliation.

The witness talks were given by two of our youth group members. We were blessed to have had a team made up of catechists, Salesian Cooperators, and youth group volunteers to facilitate our retreat.

Sixty-four people participated in this retreat. We will have another retreat for our middle school students. We are expecting to have around 140 participants on that retreat.

It is especially uplifting to see the members of the Salesian Family's youth movement on fire to share the Gospel with other young people. These dedicated young leaders sacrifice their time to be a part of this event; they even ask what more they can do to reach out to other youths.

Please continue to pray for us.
