Port Chester: Seven Churches Pilgrimage

Port Chester Seven Churches Pilgrimage

By Fr. Eddie Chincha, SDB, CYM, St. John Bosco Parish

(Port Chester, NY – April 15) – During Holy Week, St. John Bosco Parish’s youth group took its first seven churches pilgrimage after the Mass of the Last Supper on Holy Thursday.

About 20 young people, FMAs, and youth ministry team members carpooled to churches in White Plains, Harrison, and Greenwich. St. John Bosco Parish in Port Chester marked their final stop. At each church, we offered a guided meditation so as to help youths to pray in a more focused way.

I was personally introduced to this devotion when I was in my early years of formation; so it was special for me to be able to introduce this experience to the youths of my parish. It was beautiful to see how many young people gave their time to pray along with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

One goal in our province's plan of action this year is to place the Eucharist at the center of all of our ministry in all of our works. By visiting the Blessed Sacrament in seven churches on Holy Thursday, the young people of our parish have certainly put into practice this goal. And, in so doing, they have grown in their Eucharistic devotion.
