NEW JERSEY: DON BOSCO PREP COMMUNITY CELEBRATES SCHOOL YEAR OPENING MASS

Ramsey opening Mass

(Ramsey, N.J. – September 25) – Students, faculty, staff, and parents of the Don Bosco Prep school community in Ramsey celebrated Mass on Friday, September 21, opening the 2018-2019 school year. Fr. James Heuser, SDB, director-president preached a homily based on Principal Robert Fazio’s message for the school year, “Get Better Together,” stressing to the boys the importance of working together and being united. By doing this not only in school among each other, but also by serving the community as a whole, they will make Don Bosco Prep and the world a better place. Fr. Jim stressed the importance of keeping Jesus in our hearts, quoting a sign at Don Bosco, “Christ is the reason for this school.”

At the end of Mass, Fr. Jim presented English teacher Michael McLean, ’01, with a plaque of St. John Bosco, in appreciation of his loyalty and dedication to Don Bosco Prep as an alumnus, educator, volunteer, and friend. Mr. McLean is leaving Don Bosco Prep to pursue an opportunity as the liaison between the city of Jersey City, N.J., and its immigrants, after nine years of service to DBP.
