Fr. Dominic's Message for the Solemnity of St. Joseph

In 1870, Pope Pius IX declared St. Joseph the patron of the Universal Church, recognizing that God chose St. Joseph to be “the guardian of His choicest treasures.” (Decree Quemadmodum Deus, December 8, 1870).

In Jesus Christ, God chose humanity to be God's beloved children and “choicest treasures.” Thus, on the solemnity of St. Joseph, we will praise God for having “put [St Joseph] in charge of your household” (Preface for the Mass of St. Joseph).

With conviction in God's love for us, and with trust in the care of St. Joseph, let us pray for ourselves, for our world, for the Church, for the Salesian Family, and for all.
