LOUISIANA: NEW SALESIAN COOPERATORS

New Cooperators

by Bro. Jerry Meegan, SDB

(Marrero, La. – August 30) – On Sunday, August 26, six candidates were inducted into the Salesian Cooperators of Metro New Orleans’ West Bank. Of the six new Cooperators, four are young adults finishing their college careers this year. The new Cooperators are Gabby Dauzat, Dylan Mitchell, Flora Nguyen, Emily Oncale, Clyde Ortego, and Juana Ortego

The induction took place within the 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass at St. John Bosco Parish in Harvey. The celebrant was Fr. Larry Urban, SDB, pastor. During the homily he spoke about the dilemma that the disciples of Jesus were presented with when he proclaimed that they must “eat his flesh and drink his blood” to achieve life everlasting. The apostles were confronted with the proclamation, and Peter answered “Lord, to whom shall we go?” Fr. Larry pointed out that in some ways the Cooperators have made a similar decision to follow Christ by taking the promises to live their life according to Don Bosco’s way as laid out in their Project of Apostolic Life.

The entire Salesian community of the West Bank was in attendance to witness this event and welcome the new members of the Salesian Family. After Mass there was a reception in the Family Life Center.
