LOUISIANA: THE MELCHIZEDEK PROJECT

Melchizedek Project

(Marrero, La. – September 26) – The New Orleans Serra Club has been promoting the Melchizedek Project throughout the archdiocese of New Orleans. Archbishop Aymond sent a letter to all the high school campus ministers to consider accepting the program into their schools. This year Archbishop Shaw High School is becoming involved with the project. Fr. Greg Fishel, working in conjunction with the Youth Office of the archdiocese, is moderating the group.

The aim of the project is to have regularly scheduled discussion and discernment groups on the vocation to the priesthood. We are adapting the program to include discussions about Salesian vocations also.

The group will use a book entitled To Save a Thousand Souls: A Guide for Discerning a Vocation to Diocesan Priesthood and meet on a regular basis to carry out discussions using the book as a guide.
