Hamilton: Parish and Ordination Celebrations

By Fr. John Puntino, SDB, and Ms. Julia St. Clair, Province Communications Director

(New Rochelle, NY – October 2) – On Sunday, September 22, St. Gregory the Great Parish in Hamilton, ON, held a double celebration.

The community united to recognize the parish’s 60th anniversary, along with the 40th anniversary of ordination of its pastor Fr. Drago Gačnik, SDB.

A festive Mass was held, with a huge applause for Fr. Drago. The joy continued following the Mass, and guests included Slovenian Ambassador Andrej Gregor Rode, Parish Council President Mrs. Heidy Novak, and the Oktet Jurij Dalmatin Slovenian Choir, who came from Slovenia and performed a capella. They were accompanied by Fr. Andrej Golčnik, who journeyed with them from Slovenia, and will be going on tour.

Congratulations again to St. Gregory the Great and Fr. Drago!
