The Gift of Life

Have you or anyone you know ever asked the question, “Why was I born?” or wondered, “What am I supposed to do with my life?” As a college and career counselor, psychology professor, lay minister, public speaker, and life coach, I’ve been asked those questions by thousands of students and individuals for over 20 years. As a young child, I realized that God created people to shine their light—just like the sun, moon, and stars He created! I knew without a doubt that each human life is precious and created in the image of Almighty God. Each one of us was born to love God; to give God glory with our beautiful gift of life; to experience love; to discover our unique personality, gifts, and talents that bring us joy; and to love, help, and bless our neighbors by sharing those unique, divine gifts. We have all been divinely designed and were born for exactly this time in history to share our love and shine our light on the world. As we struggle with life’s challenges, it’s amazing and humbling to realize that God entrusted us with this important life mission!
