Congratulations Fr. Mike

By Fr. Dave Moreno, SDB, and Miss Julia St. Clair, Province Communicators Director

(New Rochelle, NY – June 29) – Late Friday afternoon June 23, the SUE Province learned that our Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, SDB, had appointed Fr. Michael Conway, SDB, to be the new executive director of Salesian Missions in New Rochelle, effective immediately. Fr. Mike succeeds Fr. Gus Baek, SDB, who passed away on December 30, 2022.

For the past nearly two years, Fr. Mike has served as province treasurer. Prior to that, he was the director of the Washington, D.C./Takoma Park, MD community for nine years.

"Fr. Mike, thank you for your service to this province," Office Support Manager and soon-to-be Program Coordinator Mrs. Amy Stockinger exclaimed. "I can't wait to see all the good that you do for the mission office!"

"Dear Fr. Mike, we will surely miss you working down the hall, waving at you for lunchtime," Associate Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry Victoria Weekley beamed. "I know the Lord will bless you and everyone you meet in your future travels, supporting and spreading the congregation’s mission. Know of my prayers for you in this new ministry!"

We congratulate Fr. Mike and offer him our prayers in his new responsibility. We also express our gratitude to Fr. Tim Ploch, SDB, for serving as interim executive director of Salesian Missions for the past six months. God bless and be with Fr. Mike, Fr. Tim, and the entire staff, supporters, and benefactors of Salesian Missions during this time of transition.
