(New Rochelle, NY – July 31) – Fr. Fabio Attard, general councilor for youth ministry, spent Monday morning, July 29, with the staff of the Youth Ministry Office in New Rochelle, NY. It was a blessed moment of formation, a happy exchange of ideas to improve the youth ministry work in Canada and the Eastern USA.

The meeting was facilitated by Amy Marinaro and coordinated by Guilherme Lopes. They presented the new organization of the Youth Ministry Office and offered their perspectives on the main youth ministry programs of the province: Salesian Leadership Retreat, Salesian Gospel Roads, and Empowering Salesian Leaders.

Fr. Fabio asked questions and made observations. He was pleased with the office’s work and urged the staff to continue their good work. He also emphasized the importance of process, of creating a “journey” for the young, and of accompaniment.

Moreover, Fr. Fabio commented on the reality of youth today, with input taken from Christus Vivit. Through this, he gave many insights and much advice about the evangelization of the young nowadays and the necessity of always including in programs the dual dimension of contemplation and reflection, especially with “pastoral intelligence.”

At the end of the meeting, Fr. Fabio recorded two videos: one to the CYMs of the province, who will meet in October in Montreal, and a Salesian Good Night, which will be available next month.
