FLORIDA: FAREWELL BARBECUE FOR SLMS IN TAMPA

Ken and Gladys Johanning

(Tampa, Fla. – March 6) – On Sunday, February 24, the community at Mary Help of Christians Center in Tampa hosted a barbecue dinner for two Salesian Lay Missioners, husband and wife Ken and Gladys Johanning, who served at Mary Help for almost 15 months.

They arrived days after Hurricane Irma came through Tampa (and Mary Help!) in 2017 and went right to work at such ministries as driving and accompanying the retired confreres of St. Philip Residence to their appointments and their sacramental ministry, assisting with weekend retreats, and helping with maintenance work and summer camp projects. The MHC community is grateful for their service and will miss them.
