FLORIDA: CRISTO REY TAMPA HIGH SCHOOL LAUNCHING ITS FIRST YEARBOOK

Panthers Yearbook

(Tampa, Fla. – January 16) – While continuing to focus on academics and developing its students’ corporate work skills, Cristo Rey Tampa High School at Mary Help of Christians Center, now in its third year, is also expanding its clubs, sports, and activities. The 2018-2019 academic year marks the first year the school will publish a yearbook; the annual will record, highlight, and commemorate CRT’s first three years. The yearbook editing team, comprised of the 18 sophomore and junior students taking journalism, are led by teacher Sharon Kimouche. The theme of the yearbook was decided by a poll taken at the start of the year, in which the entire student body was asked what they wanted in a yearbook. From that feedback the yearbook theme was conceived: Panther Pride.

Once the yearbook theme was finalized, each journalism student was asked to design a yearbook cover based around the theme. The journalism class reviewed the designs and narrowed them down by vote to the best five. The five designs were then shared with the entire student body who voted until it came down to one cover design.

The yearbook editing team continues to compose articles and captions, collect photographs, and work on the yearbook’s design and pages. CRT has hired Lifetouch to take the student and staff photographs and print the yearbook. The company is also supporting the yearbook team through the design and production process of the 100-page annual.
