Etobicoke: Fr. Jim Berning Installed as Pastor

Fr. Jim Installed as Pastor

By Rosina Di Felice, Salesian Cooperator

Congratulations to Fr. Jim Berning, SDB, who was installed as pastor of St. Benedict Parish on Sunday, August 1 by Bp. Ivan Camilleri, who was recently appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Toronto in November 2020.

Bp. Ivan Camilleri celebrated the Mass on Sunday, August 1, one month after Fr. Jim Berning became pastor of St. Benedict Parish. In addition to Fr. Jim, six other Salesians concelebrated the liturgy: Fr. John Louis Mariapragasam, Director; Fr. Dave Sajdak, who served as pastor for the past three years and transitions to his new role in Chicago this month; Fr. Sean McEwen, Vocations and Salesian Youth Movement Chaplain; Fr. Frank Kelly; Fr. Joseph Ho; and Fr. Enzo Trigatti. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a maximum of 105 parishioners attended the Mass. We ask God to bless Fr. Jim with His abundance of grace and protect and strengthen him as pastor of St. Benedict.
